Abstract

The realization of a balanced and sustainable social life requires solidarity and harmony among members of society. Nevertheless, social conflicts have always been present in human societies as a historical and seemingly inevitable phenomenon, and when they are not properly understood or managed, they leave detrimental effects on social cohesion. A review of the literature indicates that Quranic studies have predominantly focused on explaining the factors contributing to social unity, while the causes of social conflicts—despite constituting a prior and foundational stage—have received comparatively limited independent and systematic examination from the perspective of the Holy Quran. This research gap highlights the necessity of a causal and realistic analysis of the roots of social conflicts based on the internal logic of the Quranic text.

The objective of the present study is to identify and analyze the factors leading to the emergence of social conflicts from the perspective of the Holy Quran and to organize them within a coherent, multi-dimensional framework. Accordingly, the central research question examines which fundamental factors the Holy Quran considers responsible for social conflicts and on what logical basis these factors can be classified. The research adopts an analytical–interpretive method grounded in thematic exegesis of the Holy Quran. This involves a systematic induction of verses related to concepts such as conflict, dispute, transgression, fragmentation, and social corruption, followed by contextual and conceptual analysis with reference to authoritative Quranic commentaries. Through analytical induction, shared themes are extracted and structured into overarching categories.
