Abstract
The jurisprudential verses of the Holy Quran, despite possessing aesthetic dimensions, have mostly been examined only from the perspective of deriving legal rulings. This study, employing a descriptive method and rhetorical analysis with a focus on the verses of hijab, seeks to demonstrate that these verses, in addition to their jurisprudential implications, employ a complex and purposeful network of rhetorical devices and figures of speech that directly enhance the persuasive, educational, and ethical aspects of the rulings. The results indicate that artistic imagery in these verses is neither accidental nor merely decorative; rather, in complete harmony with the context of legal legislation, it serves as an underlying and effective layer to facilitate understanding, emphasize importance, and create psychological readiness in the audience to accept religious obligations. Accordingly, figurative and aesthetic capacities such as metonymy (kināyah), simile (tashbīh), irony, verbal and semantic multiplicity, omission, repetition, contrast, grammatical shift (iltifāt), and mushākalah (assimilation) were identified and analyzed in these verses, each constituting a link in the chain of textual coherence and a factor in completing the process of semantic signification. The innovation of this research lies in integrating rhetorical studies with the jurisprudential content of the Quran and explaining the persuasive-educational functions of figures of speech in the verses of rulings (Āyāt al-Aḥkām).
