Asemantic study of the Qur’anic lexis, which is so wisely embedded within the coherent structure of its surahs, facilitates access to an integrated network of the Book’s profound meanings. Each surah is formed with a specific discursive structure, its lexical system purposefully organized to serve its pedagogical intent. Adopting an analytical approach with a focus on lexical semantics, this study examines the cognitive mechanisms underpinning steadfastness in faith amid trial and suffering within Sūrah al-Burūj. The findings indicate that the surah’s lexical system is meticulously designed in alignment with its core discourse—fortifying faith amidst adversity. Through unique lexical choices such as al-burūj (the constellations), al-maw‘ūd (the Promised Day), shāhid and mashhūd (witness and witnessed), shahīd (martyr), aṣḥāb al-ukhdūd (the companions of the trench), qu‘ūd (sitting), intiqām (retribution), baṭsh (seizure), muḥīṭ (encompassing), maḥfūẓ (preserved), and al-fawz al-kabīr (the great success), it instills a message of perseverance. Further analysis reveals that the surah’s lexical field is organized within a protective framework; the lexical items operate not in isolation but within an interconnected network linked to the surah’s discursive context, thereby representing deeper layers of the functionality of enduring faith.
